NYFW Banana Republic AW16

NYFW Banana Republic AW16

Here’s what I learned from the Banana Republic Autum/Winter 2016 collection during their NYFW presentation: ➀ Navy, nudes, and stripes never go out of style ➁ Fashion is making a shift from runways ⇒ presentations ⇒ interactions between the models and the audience ➂ FOOD is encouraged ➃ Color never hurt nobody. Tip: Men be daring with your reds and pinks — colors like maroon or magenta look great on all genders!

This was Banana Republic’s Fashion Week event, but the friendliness, the fact that people were eating publicly, indicated that the mainstream designer wanted to make the most of its outsider status among the high fashion houses showing their wares at NYFW.

The collection was slightly elevated on a back to back platform with models on each side. Beautiful people greeted us and walked around with trays of coffee, colorful macaroons, morsel-sized lemon squares, and boxed water.

Upon arrival we were greeted by so many familiar faces and influencers — Jamie Chug of WhatTheChung was one of my favorites to see — a friend of mine recently brought to my attention how similar our lives are and since then I keep running into her — besides casual eye contact and nodding hellos, I haven’t spoken to her but will next time ♥‿♥ promise.

I wore a two-piece by Kellner and fell in love with how designer Melaina O’Hagan recreated this classic 1950’s style giving it a modern spin.

… inspired by the art and design of previous decades.  She creates designs that have a sense of the past combined with a modern point of view.

This is the Kellner Magnified Petal skirt and the Roll Cooler shirt with buttons in white top. I love that the skirt has pockets AND the top is a reverse design where the buttons are on the back 😉
