How We Decorated our NYC Apt for Autumn & the Holidays with West Elm

We’ve been going through changes and one of the things I look most forward to is creating new traditions with my family. I’ve been warming up our home this Autumn with modern designs by West Elm. The new Autumnal decor has upgraded our space in more ways than one and since we spend so much time here, it feels so wonderful that our space reflects the season outside.

Creating traditions with our little guy makes this holiday season the most special. With such a diverse background, he’s Christian and Jewish plus Shia and Sunni Muslim, we want to teach him the beauties of all cultures. In our home, Christmas is a celebration of the winter season and we’re so thrilled to decorate for the season with West Elm using their Evergreen designs. You can also shop their site for Christmas and Hanukkah decor as well!

Don’t wait until Black Friday, their sales are 50-70% OFF right now. Soooo good.

Here’s a list of my West Elm decor for Autumn & this Holiday season

The star of my Autumn decor – freshly cut seasonal plants – the Magnolia Wheat Wreath. As soon as I opened the box, it felt like I got a hug from the eucalyptus spirits. I was mesmerized by the deep hues of burnt orange. They have many styles to choose from and it doesn’t hurt too much to browse. I keep some pampas grass we picked up from Cold Valley, NY in the round stacked Stepped Form Ceramic Vase.

I used their golden Amber Hurricane and dressed it up in the alluring yellow Faux Gingko Branch and dreamy white Faux Lunaria Branch (also known as a money plant). Some of these pieces I will keep displayed all year round, I love their original modern designs.

Comfort in the form of pillows, throws with texture and statement. I got the Cotton Linen & Velvet Corners Pillow Cover in copper. The dusty blush Lush Velvet Pillow Cover and metallic gold Silk Stripes Pillow Cover. Comfort in the form of their cuddle worthy St. Jude Chunky Throw – a unique blend of light tones with 50% of its sales going to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital (until December 30th).

For the holidays, we chose from their Evergreen Collection. I started with arranging our mantle where I wanted simplicity but also the star of my show to shine. The exposed brick walls and working fireplace (over 100 years old) add so much character to the space and it just made sense to add elements of nature to enhance it.

Here you see the tall wooden white Modern Lacquer Nutcracker, the faux Eucalyptus Garland, and the luscious Quince Wreath filled of Quince slices, salal leaves, knife blade eucalyptus, juniper, curly willow, tallow berries, spruce cones, artemisia, sweet annie plants, and cinnamon sticks.

We have a unique coffee table made with Mother of Pearl, it’s bigger than it needs to be providing space to decorate. I didn’t want a basic centerpiece so I made it a point to set a new middle — off to the edge. I needed something subtle, festive, and I wanted to play with height. Here you have the Accordion Paper Trees set surrounded by my ceramic vase, books, and pinecones from West Elm.

Right beneath our tv we have a three-tier table with a Tiffany & Co. vintage clock, a crystal bowl from my aunt’s store (Star Gift’s in Canada) that we usually fill with nuts, and the West Elm centerpiece bowl that I filled with their LED garland.

Their stone white faux Fur Chinchilla Throw and pillow drape over our Harmony couch. My favorite activity is staying comfortable and cozy with them on this couch with a good show on (still watching The Office on loop sometimes while WFH).

West Elm provides comfort, functionality, and design. Your home is your sanctuary. Create what you want.
