Jessica Kelly a Champion for Ethical Fashion → THR3EFOLD

Fashion is loud, brilliant, creative, and ever-changing. Whether it’s for comfort, style, work, or sleep — we all wear clothes and while some are minimalistic, others have endless closets. As local businesses have grown global, the industry has expanded and like a domino effect, it has highly impacted labor laws and social norms. That’s why ethical and sustainable fashion matter!

Ethical concerns human rights and sustainable fashion focuses more on our environment though they fall under the same umbrella.

I met Jessica Kelly, founder of THR3EFOLD (pronounced ‘three fold’), at the Independent Handbag Designer Awards and immediately felt her passion and fearless determination. She has spent nearly a decade in the fashion industry working towards a better cause. Together with her understanding of the importance tech plays in this industry, she’s bridging a gap between designer and manufacturer towards ethical and sustainable living.

THR3EFOLD is a platform so fashion brands can connect with ethical factories around the world and manage their production all in one place.

We want to create a platform that is like the love child of Airbnb and PLM software.

Who they are ↓

THR3EFOLD’s mission is to equip the fashion industry with connections and tools to be more ethical and sustainable.

Our vision is to see a day when the fashion industry is 100% ethically made because we believe no one should be enslaved for style.

THR3EFOLD was born out of a volunteer trip Jessica Kelly took to Zimbabwe and being overwhelmed by both the beauty of the people as well as their great need.

After a research & development trip to India I discovered incredible factories, both large and small scale, operating at incredible standards and doing great work in their communities for people and planet but no one knew about them. I knew I had to make it easier for brands to find a responsible supply chain.

Why Fashion ↓

Fashion is the largest labored industry around the world primarily comprised of women making it the largest force for female empowerment globally. It also has one of the biggest impacts on the planet through our current mode of production.

I believe with intentional partnership in our supply chain we can shift our industry to be the biggest positive force for change we’ve seen in the last century.

Their Campaign ↓

They are crowdfunding $18,000 which ends August 17, 2018.

Currently we are 45% funded and would love the support of anyone interested in making a difference in this world to contribute in any way they can to make this goal a reality.

The THR3EFOLD platform takes the time and guesswork out of finding and vetting a factory.

  1. Only ethically certified factories are accepted onto the platform. Because they have gone through a lengthy and expensive process to ensure high ethical & environmental standards.
  2. The platform gives these factories a template to clearly communicate their story and services
  3. Key filters so they can easily be found based on a brand’s production needs.

iFundWomen is the perfect crowdfunding partner not only because of THR3EFOLD’s female founder but also because the fashion industry as a whole is the largest employer of women worldwide. With 1 in 6 people working in fashion, 80% of garment workers are women aged 18-35, and the offices and stores of fashion brands in the western world are primarily women. Bravo!

Donate through iFundWomen today!

They have created an array of rewards for both brands and consumers so everyone can be involved.

Together, with enough passionate people like Jessica Kelly, we can hopefully create a completely ethical fashion industry where no person is enslaved or exploited for someone else’s style. We can do this!
