The Future is Now: Watch NASA Test a Flying Saucer on Friday!

Flying saucers have been the stuff of legend for many years. Now that we officially live in the “Future” according to Back to the Future, NASA has stepped its game up and has officially created our very own flying saucer. As with any revolutionary interplanetary transportation device, it’s a good idea to do a little testing here on Earth before we slingshot it over to Mars.

Well, today it was supposed to happen, but wind conditions prevented it from happening for a second time, but this is the good news! Now, you’ll have a special chance to view the test on its rescheduled date of Friday, June 5th. Read the graphic below for more details about the test!

With $230 million budgeted for the mission so far, there is a lot of pressure to make sure everything is just right. In this second test flight, one of the biggest upgrades will be in the parachute that is tasked with slowing the 20 foot disc down enough to make a soft landing in the waters around Hawaii.
