Top 3 Reasons to Visit Cock’s & Cows in Copenhagen
In the heart of the city center, one of Copenhagen’s original and most historic neighborhoods — lies one of the most raved about restaurants: Cock’s & Cows, a classy burger joint located inside the boutique Hotel SP34, and aside from the restaurant being voted best burgers year after year — the hotel is a unique gem of its own.
First a bit about the hotel: previously known as Hotel Fox, it is now called SP34 based on the street address and is essentially a no-name themed establishment that derives its inspiration from the neighborhood itself — full of history — managing to still stay true to its origin. The hotel recently underwent a major renovation where they nearly tripled the size to 118 rooms by taking over 2 adjacent buildings.
SP34 was named to Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List 2015: The Best New Design Hotels and rightfully so. We had the pleasure of meeting hotel manager Jacob Jensen who also gave us a tour — showing us how this boutique hotel has built itself through anchoring themselves in the local area while bringing new life. My favorite things about Hotel SP34 are the detailed décor, raw style, exhibition of arts, and authenticity.
Details I love — The headrest above every bed which helps keep you propped for any late night work or entertainment pleasure before you lay your head down to sleep, the reclaimed antique lamps from Sweden, and especially their restaurants!

We started our first meal in Denmark at Cock’s & Cows and these are my must have picks:
➀Drinks:
I loved the presentation and most importantly, the taste. Light and refreshing with plenty of liquor to feel the buzz. I always prefer fresh garnishes and the mint was perfection, every time I took a sip I got a whiff of that minty smell!
I highly recommend their version of the New York Sour — it includes egg whites to make it a bit frothy!
➁ Best Burgers:
Cock’s & Cows holds the best burger title and rightly so — their selections range from the traditional to more unique ones. My favorite was their Brazilian burger with fried mozzarella, wow! They have 3 different buns to choose from and I highly recommend the sesame bun — it’s european style — whereas Jeff enjoyed the American bun, sweet & soft.
Their seasonal burger — seriously wish I was eating this right now! Called “The Surfer,” it’s kind of like a jumbo crab & shrimp cake with onions and tartar sauce. Each month they come up with a clever new burger, so keep an eye out when you arrive.
➂ Milkshake:
Did it bring the boys to the yard? It sure did — my favorite one ☺ Mr. Fransen — seriously — leave your diet at the door!
European food is often of better quality than back in the US, meaning you won’t be ingesting so many chemicals and hormones. After a few days of delicious foods, fatty and healthy — I have lost weight. I like to think it’s a combination of the walking, biking, and better tasting quality. AND THE MILKSHAKES indulge! We shared the chocolate one with whip cream and sprinkles.
Everything about this restaurant and hotel is great including the friendly service!
Make sure to include dining at Cock’s & Cows as one of your Copenhagen travel must do’s ☞
