What I Learned From BCRF ║ The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

I was recently invited to the Pink Power Breakfast hosted by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, my experience was life changing.

BCRF was founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993 — and since then — BCRF has been deeply involved in every major advance in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

These are some of the things I learned:

  • Breast cancer is the deadliest cancer in women worldwide, and the second deadliest cancer in the U.S., surpassed only by lung cancer.
  • One out of eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • There are currently 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. today.
  • An estimated 40,000 women will pass away from breast cancer this year.
  • Every two minutes, a woman will hear the words “you have breast cancer.”

We can help in many ways, raising awareness — organizing fundraisers — donating — etc.

Why must this be done? Because knowledge is power & research makes all the difference! The solution is out there waiting to be discovered.

Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.

A special thanks to these ladies who have helped save lives, prevent loss, heartache, and pain. Each woman has had a traumatic experience with cancer that they have turned into power by applying all they could and continue to do so to change the world.

It was such a pleasure spending time with and getting to meet such inspiring women who are impacting the community in such a positive way.
