Abi Ferrin: A Designer for all Women

Abi Ferrin: A Designer for all Women

There are few women that can walk upon this world with a magic and elegance to help make YOU be and feel the best version of yourself. Abi Ferrin carries that magic wand.

I draw inspiration from the world in general from the mountains of Peru to the streets of Kathmandu and the mountains of Aspen, Colorado, I am constantly soaking in colors, architecture, views and sunsets.  Overall though, I am most consistently inspired by women, the women in my life, the women I meet in my steady travels, the women I see on city streets, all over the world, who have taken the time to put themselves together in a truly unique, artistic and thoughtful way. -Abi Ferrin

Abi Ferrin is an inspiring champion with the gift of perfecting design so every woman can feel stunning! Because after all, real women come in all shapes and sizes. I feel like she stays true to her message: “made for you, not the hanger.”

Abi kindly sent me a box full of wonderful pieces, and the more I tried on the more I realized there is something more unique about this than I had imagined.

This McKenna Vest is one of my favorite pieces from Abi Ferrin’s collection — It’s unique, warm, comfortable, and a great statement piece! I’ve been able to dress it up and down. It’s the perfect throw over most my outfits because the style vibes with mine and I LOVE the color of pink and tans merged.

There are many different points of view, but we are also working with the same basics on both the inside and the outside.  One thing I have learned in my years of dressing women is that we all have security issues from the most successful super model to the woman struggling with her weight or her marriage.

Every woman I fit, immediately points out her flaws to me as she walks out of the dressing room – 100 out of 100 times.

As women, if we can come together as collaborators and sisters versus opponents we can overcome this mentality. My passion is giving women a break from the barrage on their self-esteem. I engineer the fit, cuts and overall style of my clothing to really flatter and accentuate each individual.

The clothes are made to be customized to individual styles and personalities, but the underlying goal is that when she walks out the door in an Abi Ferrin item, she will walk tall and proud and feel supremely confident!

What I love most about Abi Ferrin’s collection are the details that help accentuate the right curves, the colors which are basic and the ones with patterns are so bold that they take on a personality of their own. ツ

I wore the Olivia dress during my shoot with Kate Stoltz, a fashion designer, for her TLC show and she had wonderful things to say about my outfit. We agreed that it’s so hard to really combine the joy of comfort, style, quality, and confidence into one. Kate adored the zipper touch on the sleeves and as a designer stressed how difficult it is to get it just right!

Over the weekend, I teamed up with our toughest critic and editor Nadia Uvarova and hair stylist Mari Ripoll to truly discover what it means to wear Abi Ferrin’s designs.

We proudly own our curves with three different body types made the way real women are made: beautifully different and unique.

One thing that stood out the most to us was her little black dress, each of us had tried it on and on each of our body types we fell in love. The Moriah dress is our version of the jeans from the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Abi has an incredible story, as I mentioned before she is a champion who rose to the top at what she explained one of the most difficult moments of her life. She teamed up with Mary Kay to campaign for domestic violence awareness around the world, and what she describes as “the back story really – where the burning flame to inspire and empower women by making them feel good comes from.”

What motivates Abi to follow her dreams?

What motivates me to follow my dreams is making a difference. From the women I dress, to the women I work with in Nepal, Cambodia and the United States, there are so many women who don’t have true freedom. Now more then ever before, the opportunity to make a difference is available with over 30 million slaves worldwide.  The fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to bonded slavery, and I am passionate about educating women about what they are financing when they buy many of the lower priced and fast fashion items currently on the market in the US.

Through the freedom project, we are able to be a voice to the voiceless and share stories about our partners Sak Saum www.saksaum.org in Cambodia and PURNAA in Nepal who are both training, rehabilitating, loving and employing people rescued out of human trafficking and bonded slavery. We have even begun discussions about beginning a similar project right here in the United States. -Abi Ferrin

Abi’s advice for young women?

It is not selfish to love and believe in yourself, it is necessary. Love yourself like you love your best friend, your puppy, and your current crush combined. If you try so hard to impress, live up to and love everyone else, but don’t love yourself, you are loving through a dirty vessel and spreading that dirt that does not really represent you. We are each unique creations, so stop comparing yourself to others, stop focusing on things that you don’t like about yourself, and change your mental programming to positive self talk. You can do anything you want to do. You are the one creating the opportunities or the limits for yourself. -Abi Ferrin
