Baoase Luxury Resort: A Caribbean Gem in Curacao

Baoase Luxury Resort: A Caribbean Gem in Curacao

One of my favorite days spent in Curacao was our experience at Baoase Luxury Resort, the top luxury resort in Curacao. As a dream-come-true type resort, their ultimate goal is to be known as the best resort in all of the Caribbean and they’re well on their way. The key to their charm is in the details, every bit of the property is of high quality and has become a getaway for those who appreciate the best, as well as celebrities.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we pulled up to our destination, the skies were clear and I had just heard my friends’ song on the radio. After some time, Jeff and I just winged it on the direction and followed the path that lead to the beach. We pulled up and the only thing between us and the Baoase experience was its big brown wooden gate.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jesse Zahn, who manages the entire premise along with her husband Oliver Zahn. Jesse’s demeanor is a great example of what the resort represents; kind, beautiful, and relaxed. Running the place with her husband shows how love is one of the key factors that makes this resort special.

Jesse started the tour by introducing us to the head Chef Rene Klop who is quite possibly the best chef on the island! Check back for a full feature of his story soon =)

We continued through the gardens, across their private beach, to an area that is on the rise.

After over 5 years of successful operation, Baoase expanded by adding more beachfront suites  that embody luxury, privacy, elegance, to create what I can only describe as my dream home.

To give a sense of the care that is put into the construction of the property, at one point we found the owner working away at the controls of a big machine. He says that he loves his toys and enjoys the labor. The name “Baoase was built by B” = Bibi + “A” = Ad + “oase” = Oasis in Dutch. Clever!

What started off as a hobby, has turned their passion into a resort we can enjoy!

The details even reside in their decor, some imported from South East Asia, shades of blue in all sorts of fabrics, and even decorations of shells reminding you how close you are to the sea.

Private beaches surround this ruby of a resort. I loved feeling the sand beneath my toes and even though I was a bit dressed up there was no shame in kicking off my shoes to feel the soft sand of the beach. As they like to say, there is an air of “Barefoot Elegance.”

The new rooms feature both indoors and outdoor private showers, every bath is like a spa experience made from hand carved, imported stone. There’s even a resting place for your head. I love the concept of bathing privately outside, with Curacao’s paradise-like weather all year round, why not?!

Throughout the resort, there is a private staff to cater to your needs, not just by request but they’ll actually note your habits and proactively accomodate you. If the staff notes you like a certain lounge chair or spot on their private beach, they will set your space up before you even get there. Bringing a different approach to hospitality while maintaining their efforts to keeping it all effortlessly elegant.

After our early dinner near the private beach, Jeff and I were invited to the “Sunset Lounge” to experience the best view for the sunset.

Everything about this moment felt so right, so peaceful, and magical. It’s as if we were looking so far into the horizon that we could see straight to tomorrow.

We experienced so many different rays of colors, each moment became more magical than the last.

It was a perfect time to reflect on who I am, everything I’m blessed with, and everything I want to achieve and with gratitude filling my heart. It was a special moment that I shared with the man I get to spend the rest of my life with.
