If I Could I Would, So I Did!

If I Could I Would, So I Did!

Motivation is such a kick in the ass. I sometimes wish that motivation and I were best friends. But then I think if that were the case, we’d have so many falling outs because I would be an “unfit” friend. Sigh.

So to answer the obvious question of “how do we motivate ourselves?” comes my theory of the simplicity: Organize it! The more organized you are the better your life will run. The more organized you are, the more shit you get done to help you get to the other important shit in your life.

I have an iPhone and I have my day on my calendar with reminders, but there’s something phenomenal about having an organized planner where I can physically mark things off. It’s like weight being lifted off my shoulders. It’s also my O.C.D. that tells me I was a good girl!

My favorite Etsy shop, Amanda Cowgill Design offers very organized planners that I love. The best part is, they are colorful and you can even get them personalized with your name. I use mine all the time for day-to-day affairs and also my grocery list.

What I love about my agenda is that I can add time for myself in between a hectic day to take yoga or go on a quick 30-minute walk and breath the air to stretch my eyes and open my mind. Life can make you feel confined so always make sure to take time out for you, even if it’s 30-minutes.

You can make your own lists, I use all three because I find random things inspire me throughout the day, and I think of recipes so having my list constantly in front of me helps from overbuying. My brain is on 24 hours a day and when I see something I need I write it down, especially a new blog topic.

all lists

I was in such a rut a while back, never able to remember what I needed to buy, where I needed to go to get anything, and completely messy. Now I write it down, plus it helps that next to all my post-it notes around the house, I add in something good about myself just to remind me, that yes I am wonderful.

Adding a goal to your day helps you out in so many ways and realizing that you can’t climb Mt. Everest in one day, but that you can aspire to get there eventually is so much more realistic.

When I leave for the day, all my lists go with me. I will remember as the day goes by and having an envelope to hold it all helps. So I went to Target and found what I needed. You really don’t need to spend a lot to get a lot out of something!

on the go

I start small with my goals, and some examples from the past week that I wrote on my agenda were: “make good decisions,” “find the good at every stop,” “admire someone who helps you,” and so on.

door note

Don’t feel like you need to reinvent the wheel. No one wants to have that assignment and don’t make yourself feel bad if you didn’t achieve your goal today, because eventually you’ll get there.

By becoming more organized you can become an example to your friends, they’ll all want to know how you get shit done and have time for you. Who wouldn’t want to be the prime example?!

Go forth and make your mark!
