Karolyn Pho Impresses at Pier 59 Studios NYFW
Karolyn Pho impresses in her fifth Fashion Week season with Spring/Summer 2015 at Pier 59 Studios.
This season, the main character in Karolyn Pho’s story is a vagabond. We follow her as she meanders through castles in the air, traipses between realities and crosses unknown borders. She is a nomad, a traveler, lost within her own self-perception.
I was very impressed with the way Karolyn played with fabrics and layers of it. Bold yet soft to the look. She always seems to know what color scheme is in my head.
She plays with daring cuts like a darling. The sparkle makes my heart <3 glow. That’s it! She shares with us backstage that her PR team inspired the look.
This is the loud courageous down to earth kind of style I expected out of Karolyn who matches all those personas. The white reminds me of Victorian style meets the inner bad ass I’ve been intuitive with.
As with seasons past there is an underlying vein of masculinity running throughout Pho’s collection. This season she aims to further abstract the conditioned perception of femininity and masculinity, with a color palette inspired by the Med-Deco architecture of Miami. The collection featured sky blue pinafore day dresses and racerback tank dresses, while Pho’s first foray into sequins as debuted in patch dresses and sequin back t-shirts.
Backstage she tells us
There’s a care free spirit and aloofness that becomes charming …
The Karolyn Pho Fall 2014 collection is sold in New York at In Support Of, Vera Meat and Swords Smith, as well as boutiques in Kuwait, Dubai and Tokyo.
I spy me in the last picture!
