Favorite Few Ways to Look Great in a Photo

Let’s be vain here for a second, let’s talk about looking good in photos. I know we all end up in front of a camera sometimes. I personally think it’s a lot more fun when you look good when it does occur. I am going to be frank, I indulge in selfies more often than I’d like to confess to. I also get photographed with friends and family. And it’s sometimes my job to be photographed as an actress. I’ve had to figure out how to look good when being captured on camera. So I’ve come up with my favorite few ways to look good in pictures.

anglesAngles. Understand the angles of the camera and know how they can benifit your look. When the camera is angled down on you, you get a more streamlined look for your face and body. The same can occur with a low angle, though head tilting is required. And straight on shots, you just have to know how to angle your face and body to give it justice. I suggest moving your camera around to see how all shots look and study how your body works in relation to them. Every body is different and you should get to know yours.

You want to make sure that your light is diffused, whether it be by shadow or multiple lights. Direct overhead light can cast harsh shadows on your face, that weigh down your features. You also want to make sure that light is hitting you from your front, it’s hard to see you when you are strongly backlight! So as they say in the theater, find your light. It can have a huge affect on your photo!

To be prescent you have to reveal yourself in your truth. Whatever truth is occuring in that moment. The best photos of you and your loved ones are the genuine moments. People can tell when your forcing a smile, when  a smile comes from a genuine place, there is nothing more beauiful. When you look into the camera, look into it like you’re telling a secret. It’s listening and so will other people. Down the line you’ll love to see who you were at that moment.

You are all beautiful and enjoy the joys of photography!
