The Beauty of Anger: Celina Giraud

Meet Celina Giraud, an artist who expresses her emotions and brings them to life through colors. Her biggest inspiration comes from anger, but finishes her works with peace.

Today, March 14th, we celebrate her birthday!

Celina Giraud Painting What The Doost

Doost: What’s your favorite emotion when you paint?

Celina: When I’m really, really mad I have to paint…I don’t see another way to express my anger, so I have to paint…and then I go back on it and I’m like, yeah, that was a great way to understand it, but I’m going to twist it a little more; ’cause you know if I put only the anger in it…to start painting, the anger is the best.

Doost: Can you tell me some of your early on inspirations and what they are now?

Celina: Well, before, I wanted to do figurative work, being really precise and represent whatever is in the world and I guess now, not anymore. Not that much. I want to be more abstract in a way, but if I do represent some stuff, I prefer to have a meaning behind that is not completely shown and if you’re sensitive to whatever I’m doing, then you’ll feel it. If not you won’t, or you feel something else.  I don’t want to dictate anymore what other people think when they see what I’m doing.

I never try to make something look mad, or I don’t want any of my paintings to look like I have anger issues…even if I guess I do a little bit, but I still want at the end of the day, I want my painting to look happy in a certain way.  To give a feeling of happiness, at least, that’s what I want.
