Entrance of the Met Museum

The Met is filled with locals and tourists. Each there with curious eyes and a purpose! For me, what turned out to be killing time transformed into an adventure, quickly.

Above is what it looks like when the weather doesn’t decide where you go. That’s the Metropolitan Museum at 1000 5th Avenue in New York, NY. Fortunately for me, it’s located in my backyard. It’s a fascinating experience, every time.

Most don’t know, Very Important, the admissions for the Met Museum is WHATEVER YOU LIKE!! On their site and location, they suggest a ‘Recommended’ price, $25. It’s also kind of clever that it says, ‘There is no extra charge for entrance to exhibitions.’

Folks, the Museum is well-funded and doing great! Unless you can afford it, and this would be a good cause, don’t think you have to go broke to have a good time. Add the Metropolitan to your list and discover something new every time.

Only Way is Up!

I love history and I find inspiration through the stories and mysteries of them. The more I learn, the less I know.

Right now, the Met has an Islamic Art Exhibit lasting through February 2014. It’s my second time visiting in the past couple weeks. The first time I saw it was with my cousins and brother. Tarana Doost, my lovely cousin and teacher in Canada, was schooling us about our heritage. It was cool seeing things of people in our very own family line.

Islam Culture

Sometimes, I will come across an artifact that connects with me, a feeling of goodness and familiarity. These materials are fascinating. Rich in quality, because it survived for so long. It poses so much strength, the builder/creator knew there was purpose with each piece constructed.

Then there are pieces that take your breath away. Detailed, beautiful, and intelligent. Constructed with care and patience.
