Medium Rare at Rosemary’s

A great place to dine! if you’re looking for a place to eat make sure you try one of New York’s local favorites!

Last week I overheard a conversation between two girls. They’re both NY locals, born and raised, celebrating a new job offer in California. So one girl made a list of all the places she needs to experience in New York before she switches coasts. At the top of her list is Rosemary’s. A must dine experience in the West Village.

At the corner of 10th street, Rosemary’s is located at 18 Greenwich Ave, NYC 10011.

This place attracts a lot of traffic. The scenery is beautiful and welcoming. The decor is done right. And its fitting for a first date impression as well as a great spot for close friends to enjoy each others company over fine food and drinks.

The high ceilings are filled with strings of glowing lights. The tables are positioned to be part of the party yet private enough for conversation.

Being that it’s October, I was thrilled to see the Halloween spirit floating in the decor. The carved pumpkins are detailed and look great!

The entire process is a fun experience. From the moment you walk in to give your name for the wait list to the moment you leave. The place is a walk-in meaning they don’t take reservations with the exception of 8 or more guests.

The staff is welcoming, super friendly and personable. I loved all three hosts and wish I got all their names. Andrew was sweet and even went out of his way to find me at the bar when my phone died.

The host records your name onto an iPad with your number and texts you once your table is ready. Giving you a heads up to close any open tab you may have at any place you’ve decided to wait.

The wait time the host gave us was an hour and a half which seemed long but also worth the wait which was a dilemma between our hunger and our taste buds. Strangely, within ten minutes I got a text that our table was ready. This seemed like a mistake and I wasn’t going to cheat someone else out of a table but I was curious so I approached the hosts. In this case me and my party got lucky because of the iPad glitch our wait time reduced to less than an hour wait.

We happily went to the bar and enjoyed a drink with an appetizer.

Italian dining at its finest & funnest. The food is incredibly tasty using simple and fresh ingredients.

The Focaccia is too good for words. It must be tasted. I started with the original Rosemary’s Focaccia to go along with my sparkling rose they have on draft. Yes! I said it. They have a great draft selection of sparkling rose, Prosecco and beers on tap.

The bar is nicely set up with enough room for everyone to enjoy. I love that part of the kitchen is attached to the bar where you can see your food being made. Gives it the “food you can trust” seal from me.

When Andrew came and got us from the bar we had no idea what was in store for us next. Sweet Andrew got us one of the best seats in the house. A lovely view at an outside table where we could enjoy the warm weather and park across the street. He made us feel like VIP’s.

In a country that over sizes its portions it is refreshing to step into a restaurant that does it right. Each dish is great to share and I recommend you get a lot.

A must have appetizer is their generous portion of homemade mozzarella. Are you drooling yet?

The lamb was divine! Slow cooked and flavorful. I like a little zest of sweet BBQ and this dish filled all my cravings for it. The baby carrots were a perfect combo and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Word of advice, whenever you go to an upscale restaurant and order steak go MEDIUM RARE every time!! Like most people, I myself cannot fathom the thought of bloody meat and I often go medium with my steaks. But there are exceptions and this place is one of them. The MR here is just the right amount of pink and high in quality!

Check out the rooftop garden during the day, they close it once it gets dark.
