Oysters + Octoberfest = Oystoberfest

On Saturday September 28th, we joined the fun at Alewife in LIC Queens for Oystoberfest. Featuring 20+ Oyster Varieties, 20+ Craft Beers, 20+ Cask Beers as well as more food, drinks and music.

New York Oyster Week is a celebration of the benevolent bivalve loved and consumed by so many New Yorkers. These delicious and nutritious creatures have fed our bodies, cleaned our waters, powered our libidos and inspired us for eons. In the third week of September we regale the noble oyster and its role in the history, culture, cuisine, economy & ecology of New York.

Admit it… People are fanatics over seafood and it even has that East Coast vs. West Coast rivalry like Biggie and Tupac. Oyster Week is a festival in which we feast on the freshest oysters and drink the finest beers, selected by New York’s finest Chefs and restaurants.

Their website says it best:

This movement was born out of a love for the sea, the food it produces and a motivation to help connect more people with their food source in a meaningful way. And along the path to bringing people together who share these passions, we have educated, motivated, entertained and perhaps most importantly, raised money and awareness for some important causes.
