Finding Your Holiday Happy! The Beauty Edition
Hi everyone! In this week’s installment of “Finding Your Holiday Happy,” I’m sharing a few tips on how to keep your beauty regimen fast, effective, and affordable! I’ve been testing out some fun and varied products these last few months in preparation for the big chill because my skin dries up like a little desert if I’m not careful. Dry skin = easily irritated skin, too, so let’s talk about what products I’d recommend for a calm, moisturized face.
Try a Sleeping Mask!
I belonged to Julep’s Maven program for about a year, and although their polish wasn’t my favorite, I discovered an absolute necessity in one of my monthly boxes! I had never heard of sleeping masks, but you typically apply them at night after cleansing and toning. They work their magic while you sleep! Who can say no to no-effort beauty products? The first night I used, I was surprised how soft and lush my face looked in the morning! If you’re not willing to pop the $34 for Julep’s option, try out Sephora’s little line of sleeping masks, or Freeman’s overnight facial.
Whiten Those Pearlies Up For Pictures!
Coming from someone who drinks a lot of black coffee and red wine, you best believe I need help with whitening my teeth. I’m a multi-tasker, so I like to be able to do as many beauty routine things at once. Whiten my teeth while in the shower? Absolutely! I’m personally a big fan of the Crest Noticeably White Whitestrips because they’re rather inexpensive, and really do the trick on my teeth. Tip: If you have sensitive gums, apply them only about twice a week and for 5-10 minutes each time.
Keep Those Digits Moisturized!
Next to my face, my hands show winter wear quickly. If I’m not constantly moisturizing them, they look dry and crack. I carry little travel bottles of Vaseline lotion with me almost everywhere I go. I also have a bottle of Lubriderm lotion leftover from the last time I needed to keep a new tattoo happy. If my hands get especially dry, I slather that on before bed and then apply a pair of cotton gloves to lock in the moisturizing effects. It might seem weird at first to sleep with gloves on, but they’ll help trap the heat from your hands and activate the lotion!
Make Your Makeup Removal Easy!
The holidays often call for lots of parties! Bouncing around from shindig to shindig might seem super fabulous at first, but all that makeup can be a drag to remove at night. I highly recommend finding a makeup remover sheet that works for you. Being a DJ, I often get home late at night with a full face of makeup and almost can’t fathom messing with my facial cleanser. Right now I’m loving the Cetaphil cloths – they’re super gentle and are especially effective at removing mascara!
