Did Someone Say "Beach?"

Did Someone Say “Beach?”

Writing this piece is probably going to be one of my favorites, especially since I am writing to you from the Dominican Republic.

I recently just left on vacation a couple of days ago with my father to visit where he grew up in the countryside of Mamey Los Hidalgos.

On Sunday, I woke up to the sound of a rooster and my dad pulling my leg at 8 am in order to get ready for our drive to the beach. La Ensenada, located in Puerto Plata, is probably one of the most beautiful beaches I have visited, considering that beaches in New York City are not always the cleanest.

If you are wishing to go to a tropical place away from the city, then the Dominican Republic is the perfect place. Every time I have visited the Dominican Republic, I have always felt the weight roll off my shoulders. There’s a sense of peace and relaxation that makes you feel like you can accomplish many things. Everything feels really calm and people are just wonderful.

Chef PeppersGazing at the beautiful beach and gaining ideas for our home, we went to Kiko’s Restaurant, where they give you a selection of seafood with a side of fried plantains or sweet potatoes. I was able to conquer some fried fish with a side of tostones (fried plantains). Kiko’s is literally the best place to go to after talking a dip in the water and you’re just craving good food. Being in the countryside for two days, I made my way to Santo Domingo (the capital) in order to spend time with my cousins. They took me out to a cool spot called Chef Peppers, where they make really amazing burgers. They also have a special sauce, which is really good.

So far, the trip has gotten off to a great start and hopefully more adventures to come.

Sincerely, Emily Sarita.
