Roseland Ballroom Goes GAGA For Finale
Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are.
-Lady Gaga
In the spirit of love, self worth, and legendary music. I’d like to share my memorable experience at the Roseland Ballroom in Times Square, New York, as Lady Gaga holds one of the last performances. The venue closed its doors this week and Lady Gaga performed one hell of a sold out show!
The Roseland Ballroom is a historic landmark that was in tune with music over time. Legends like Sinatra, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan have graced the stage in it’s nearly 100 year history. According to the New Yorker, the land will be turned into a 59 story luxury apartment complex.

Welcoming Lady Gaga as the last performer was a great way to close the curtains with a big bang and a loving message.
We’re all here for one reason, and that’s to say goodbye.
The stage was beautiful and decked out in roses, which seemed only fitting for Roseland’s last performance. She starts the show on an elevated stage, opens a door floating up high on the stage and teases the audience wrapping her legs and arms around the door. The crowed is hyped and screaming: ‘We want Gaga!’
My friends & I stood behind Gaga’s mother, grandmother, and among familiar television personalities. I’ve heard that Gaga’s mom is a religious conservative Catholic but the love I felt illuminating off her was incredible, it was a light of love, acceptance, and admiration for her daughter. I believe this is a message Gaga stands for loud and proud!
I admire how Gaga defied all odds, believed in herself, and never gave up! She embraced her struggles, starting out singing at local downtown bars for years until she cut that lucky break and ran with it all the way to the charts and into our hearts.
You have to be unique, and different, and shine in your own way.
The show opens up with ‘Born This Way’ and I can see her mom lip syncing to the lyrics:
No matter gay, straight or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life
I’m on the right track baby,
I was born to survive.
Lady Gaga had about 6 outfit changes and made a lot of use of Roseland’s space using 4 stages with bad-ass choreography.
There she stops in the middle of a song, and jokingly says:
Ooooouu I smell weed. Oh stop it! Sorry mom it’s the drugs.
I love her humor, she even stopped during a song to take a selfie with a fan. I love performers who interact with their audience and have a sense of humor.
The show ends with her latest hit, “G.U.Y” and lots of colorful confetti poring from the ceiling. She graces the stage one last time, throws rose pedals at the crowd, and says:
Thank you for my flowers and all the applause, we love you!
Goodnight New York!
