Uncensored for CREEM MAG: Behind the Scenes Exclusive!
I see fashion as a proclamation or manifestation of identity, so, as long as identities are important, fashion will continue to be important. The link between fashion and identity begins to get real interesting, however, in the case of people who don’t fall clearly into a culturally-recognized identity. ― Kate Bornstein
Something truly beautiful happens when we’re pushed outside of our comfort zone. When we connect with things that make us feel uncomfortable we open up and if we’re wise enough, understand to love it.
The Doost & Co., with our very own talented photographer Will Keown, were able to document just that. At the editorial shoot for CREEM MAG’s next fall fashion shoot which is all about pushing the boundaries and being uncensored.
Matt Licari was fueled with creative visions and he had the most excellent team to help build it. The subject was Rain Dove Dubilewski, Licari’s inspiration.
I’ve worked with Rain before in the past, we shot for Jose Duran, and she had such a presence that I had to shoot her again.
Stylist Polar Buranasatit described Rain Dove as a breath of fresh air for fashion, steering away from the typical model “look.”
You can’t limit yourself anymore.
She’s such a handsome guy, and when she glams up she’s so beautiful. Rain has a unique look and it works in this industry!
The adventure is to play with both masculine and feminine looks and yes, black censorship tape is included.
Big shout out to Licari’s Angel’s; hair stylist Brittany White, make-up artist Jessica Plummer, and Licari’s intern Sara Clarken. Bringing to life a vision made to influence the next level <3 like Polar said, “You can’t limit yourself anymore.”
