Feeling Vibrant with Burt’s Bees Beauty during NYFW

I love creating beauty looks, but I also like to avoid spending hours getting ready. To do that, I focus on highlighting my favorite features and find ways to further accentuate my own kind of beautiful.  I’ve teamed up with Burt’s Bees to talk about beauty trends, society’s beauty standards, and how I stay true to myself in the midst of it all. And how to have fun with the latest makeup while doing it!

When it came time for New York’s iconic Fashion Week shows this SS19 season, I wanted to spend less time getting ready and more time on what really matters – the experience.

These days, it seems as if society’s interpretation of beauty takes hours to achieve with tons of contouring and dozens of steps that alter too many features. To me, beauty is a representation of our inner and outer selves. I use makeup to enhance my features while trying to stay true to my natural beauty. Though, I’m not afraid to use vibrant colors if I’m feeling a little wild.

One of my best features happens to be my smile, so my go-to look most times consists of a bold lip color that also provides all-day moisture.

My NYFW Look ↓

Brilliant, natural beauty focused on my vibrant lips and paired with subtle, shimmery eyes → my bohemian flare. I believe that you shouldn’t need over an hour to create your makeup look. I believe in highlighting our natural beauty because, YES, we’re all beautiful in our unique ways.

My 5-step Doost look using Burt’s Bees Beauty products ↓

Time: 15 minutes and that includes the time it took to create a quick playlist.

Step 1 · Base – I applied less than a dime size of Burt’s Bees’ Goodness Glows Liquid Makeup in Rich Caramel all over my face including under my chin. I have dark bags under my eyes, so I used Burt’s Bees Mattifying Powder Foundation to lightly hide and blend any blemishes, darkness, etc.

Step 2 · Cheeks – I love Burt’s Bees’ All Aglow Lip & Cheek sticks! I used shade Peony Pool, and, like a football player, I made two marks on my cheekbones and blended them with my fingers. This also can be used as lipstick making it a rad two-in-one.

Step 3 · Eyes – I love earth-toned shimmers and was immediately attracted to Burt’s Bees’ Blooming Desert Eye Shadow Trio. I used two shades from my palette starting with the lightest shade on my eyelid and below the eyebrow arch, which helps accentuate the shape. I used the second golden shade along both my upper and lower eyelids, under my waterline and at the corners to highlight my almond shaped eyes. Then, I added a soft cat eye by starting from mid-eye with the Nourishing Eyeliner Pencil in Soft Black and finished it off with Burt’s Bees’ Nourishing Mascara in Classic Black.

Step 4 · Eyebrows – I love the shape of my eyebrows and, as dark as all my hair is, they can look faded in photos. Using Burt’s Bees’ Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette eliminated that problem for me.

Step 5 · Lips – This one is awesome, it glides on like velvet! I used Burt’s Bees’ Liquid Lipstick in Rushing Rose to add that show-stopping effect. I like using the tip of the lip brush to act as a lip liner, then I apply the color to my lower lip and blend with my upper.

Their Eye Shadows comes in four distinct trio palettes and are inspired by shades of nature. I love that! The Burt’s Bees Nourishing Eyeliner Pencil and the Eyebrow Pencil contain Jojoba Oil, which helps to moisturize and keep your skin looking fresh. The Nourishing Eyeliner Pencil is produced from responsibly-sourced cedar wood and is made for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers like me. They’re both natural, and I loved how long it made my lashes look. Plus, the process was pretty effortless. But, just because Burt’s Bees products are natural in formulation doesn’t mean it’s the only look you can create. Go bold and be vibrant!

Also, I must add that their compacts and lipsticks come in a perfect size to not overtake space in my clutch/purse, and I’m free to reapply on the go.

The hustle and bustle of NYFW is real. Between running from shows to appointments to events, the days often turn into blurs and what seems to be one day will feel like at least three. Taking a moment to re-think my beauty routine was essential for me physically and mentally. Not to mention, it saved me a ton of time to focus on the experience while still looking great.
