Everything You Need to Know to Escape to Milan · Italy

When one thinks of Italy → Rome, Florence and Venice circulate. Though it is Milan, that is the second most important town of Italy. After the capital Rome, of course.

You may have the universe if I may have Italy.

— Giuseppe Verdi

I am in love. Nothing special, if this love wasn’t a city. A city that many people associate with the adjectives grey and boring. How sad, to hear such accusations!

— Alexandra Korey on 10 reasons Milan is

What makes it special:

Milan is gorgeous. It is of architectural beauty, elegance, and romance. The three most appealing sites are → Castello Sforzesco, the masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, and the Milan Cathedral in Duomo. Luckily, these three treasures are all located in the center of the town. The center is the best part of Milan!

  • Sforza Castle is in Milan, northern Italy. It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remains of a 14th-century fortification.

  • The Last Supper is the final meal that, in the Gospel accounts, Jesus shared with his Apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. The Last Supper is commemorated by Christians especially on Maundy Thursday.

  • Milan Cathedral is the cathedral church of Milan, Italy. Dedicated to St Mary of the Nativity, it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Cardinal Angelo Scola. The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete.
  • Address: Piazza del Duomo, 20122 Milano, Italy

Where to stay:

The smartest solution is to search and find a nice hotel in the center of the town. Are they cheap, do they belong to low cost category? No, but nevertheless they are not very expensive and the rate price / quality is good.

A very nice and charming solution is located along one of the most famous streets of Milan: Via Manzoni.

One of my top recommendations is Hotel Armani and their plus is its Ristorante Armani by Chef Filippo Gozzoli. Close to this solution, there is a very attractive hotel: Hotel Four Seasons, located in Via del Gesù.

Via del Gesù is a must for the luxury shopping: the most famous names of fashion have their luxury shops in this street and in its surrounding area. Plus its delightful restaurant: La Veranda. Their Chef is Vito Mollica and we suggest not to miss their epic Sunday brunches in a very elegant location: the theatre room.

Close to the main railway station, Milano Centrale, a charming hotel: Hotel Principe di Savoia. Outstanding its restaurant: Acanto.

Where to dine:

Apart from the ones I mentioned above ↑ Osteria del Treno at Via San Gregorio 42.

To dine at Osteria del Treno is a delicious cognitive and emotional experience. It’s amongst the places that enable you to taste the true soul of Italy.

Enjoy Milano
