Black Barn for Dinner Parties & How To Stay in Style During the Holidays with Julie Brown NYC

When it comes to food I’m all about the quality and people I get to share it with. In NYC, the options are nearly endless, the ambience is rich, and the space is limited.

With that said, once you do find a place in Manhattan that meets all your requirements — you hold on to it and recommend it! Lucky for me, Black Barn Restaurant is large enough to host big or small with so many different rooms to experience. But what do you do during the busy holidays when you’re trying to accommodate everyone yet still find the perfect outfit that’s sure to impress? Below you’ll find why I recommend Black Barn for any dinner party as well as a great how-to on 4 separate styles to get you through the busy season looking fab wearing Julie Brown NYC.

And when it comes to style → in rain or shine, one must always try to impress in NYC. So it’s no different during the cold holiday season when we bring out our warmer attire — coats, scarves, hats, and gloves. But also the more festive choices like our holiday dresses and furs.

The Space:

There are a handful of locations in NYC that I always keep at the top of my recommendation list. The Experience at Black Barn Restaurant makes it to the top 5. But most of you doosts already know that…. What you didn’t know is how excellent the event space is to accommodate big or small celebrations.

If you’re looking for a place to host your holiday party or any party look no further, Black Barn NYC is the place and trust me when I say this, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!!

One of the best things about NYC is its vast number of options — both convenient and cultural. I once read in the New Yorker that you could live on the Manhattan island all your life, try a different restaurant for each meal, and you still wouldn’t be able to go through all the restaurants on our island. And that’s in one’s average lifespan. So I don’t say this lightly when I state → Black Barn will be one of the best experiences you’ll have in Manhattan.

The Food:

The harvest inspired organic centerpiece was a great indicator of what our taste buds would encounter throughout the night — fresh!

It’s clear that quality and service are key focuses at Black Barn. Chef John Doherty takes it to the max and that effort makes the place shine just a little bit brighter than the rest.

The evening was off to a great start as Jay Akin sabered our champagne → and taught us that this was the Napoleon way and whether they won or lost a battle, it called for champagne!

When booking a private event, Chef John Doherty takes it up a notch by curating a special menu that marries into your evening. We booked ‘The Shed’ which seats up to 20 — and had a dozen lovely ladies and one dashing gentleman fill the space.

After some drinks and toasts we started on our four-course meal which included a lot of vegetarian, gluten-free, and carnivore options. A colorful assortment of meats — from seafood to beef, chicken, and lamb. Dinner parties here are served family style, so everyone gets to share in all the dishes they desire.

With an overflow of deliciousness, we couldn’t help but indulge in dessert too. Black Barn makes the best Apple Cider Doughnuts with their in-house caramel sauce. Truly perfection! And you have to try their Rum Butterscotch Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream ↓

The holiday dress & what we wore ♥ your how-to style during the busy season:

We partnered with Julie Brown NYC and got fancy with it → As it’s the holidays and there is so much to celebrate!

I dared to wear a pattern I didn’t think I could pull off — but with some luck, I styled their Morgan dress with black velvet heels from Aldo and my 3 chained necklace by Chloe & Isabel by the talented Renee Sith. Since it’s cold out, I picked up a pair of sheer leggings to rock. What I loved most about the dress is its fit! It hugs my curves in the right places and the material feels soft and comfortable. The sizing may be a little generous in Julie Brown NYC; I’m normally a 4 in dresses, but when I fit into a 2 — like this piece — it put a big smile on my face.

Ellese Launer from Rock Paper Glam wore the Julie Brown NYC Amy dress. She looked just marvelous in the gold — perfect for the birthday girl!

Loren from Enlighten by Beauty wore a printed version of the Amy dress. Which she got festive with again ↓ I love how these dresses fit on us all. With 3 different body types and all, it flattered each of us in our own unique way.

Emily Cunanan-Desouza from Social Fashionista Beauty wore their Mabel top which she styled so lovely! You can read more about her how-to style on her blog here ♥

The great thing with Julie Brown NYC is its effortless, chic style → and its fit! Each of us has a different body type and the dress did us all justice — that’s awesome af!
