How to Survive the Heat ♨ 5 Tips to Stay as Cool as a Cucumber
This hot weather is real and coming from all angles … literally. It’s like everywhere I’ve been this month the heat wave has also followed, from NYC → LA → DC, covering from the east to west coasts while also residing in the middle of America.
You already know the basics like finding shade, wearing sunscreen, and drinking plenty of WATER. But there are more tricks and tips that are sure to put a smile on your face — like:
Drink a Slushie
Now you don’t have to feel guilty about buying your kids (or yourself) that convenience-store slushie. Pre-cooling before hot-weather exertion improves the body’s ability to cope in the heat.
Stay Cool as a Cucumber ↔ How to Beat the Heat
➀ Light fabrics
To me this means light as air — not naked — staying comfortable and stylish! The tee-shirt and sneaker trends are highlights this season and should be used to their fullest potential. Here are 5 ways to style your basic tee.
TIP: Pay close attention to details. One of my favorite brands Anje uses fabrics made from reconstituted cellulose of beech trees and is one of the most comfortable ones I’ve worn. Another great one to keep in mind is classic cotton …
Choose cotton.
Save the ooh-la-la satin, silk, or polyester sheets for cooler nights. Light-colored bed linens made of lightweight cotton (Egyptian or otherwise) are breathable and excellent for promoting ventilation and airflow in the bedroom.

➁ Be good to your skin from the inside out — avoid heavy make-ups.
Ever since I started using Arya Essentials, I’ve been getting an extra WOW glow. My go to experts at Vogue, Forbes, and InStyle are all over it too — noticing their natural methods to wonderful results. Arya follows an ancient Ayurveda method that believes all the medicine we need, nature already provides. Some scholars assert that Ayurveda originated in prehistoric times; we’re talking THOUSANDS of years ago — the time of the Indus Valley Civilization (3300 BC) or even earlier. Arya contains ingredients so raw that some take days to get in small batches.
This is my TRUSTED beauty routine in 3 simple steps:
➀ Wash my face → ➁ Towel pat dry ↓
➂ Rub in a couple drops of Arya Essential Facial Oil
➃ Apply lipstick, spf, and a light matte foundation → go outside for the best lighting ever, the sun ☼ #selfie
➂ Music — find your zen.
Since we’re talking about light fabrics and non sticking things — I’ve recently been all about the wireless Sudio Vasa Blå headphones. They’re great for traveling, working out, and finding my zen when I’m en route. I love that the wires don’t get in the way of me and my phone, more so, I love that they don’t touch me. This bluetooth game is on point ツ
My favorite things about these Sudio VASA Blå has studio quality, elegant design and lasts for 8 hours before needing to be charge again. I love that it’s light weight — in fact it’s the lightest on the market so far. The combination of driver and amplifier is able to separate the sound of every instrument in every song, thereby giving me a true studio experience.

The added bonus is that I never have to untangle my headphones again! A perfectly developed “anti-tangle” cable.
➃ Rooftops — Find your chill zone
If you’re in NYC — I highly recommend checking out the Gansevoort or The Dream Hotel. Finding a poolside view always helps with the heat and definitely makes it feel more like summer!
➄ Head inside & downstairs.
Since hot air rises, the upper stories of a home will be warmer than the ground floor. A basement can be a cool refuge from the midday heat.
New York is filled with great spots and one of my favorite recent go to’s is the rustic vibes at the Black Barn Restaurant. This place is always cool! It’s locally sourced, upscale American cuisine served in a barn-inspired setting.
Ask about their wine room!
For me, the best things in life consist of traveling, food, and great company — don’t let the hot weather sway you differently. Stay cool and don’t let the heat win!
