The Freshest Thing in Brooklyn | The 1975
Basketball and music aren’t the only things you experience when visiting the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The entire encounter is one that seems to be modeled after Jay Z’s own perspective. I respect that. First off, let me say the stadium is huge. While going from our suite to the Billboard Lounge, the journey was long and consisted of a lot of hallways with security at various points leading to a well designed, trendy club. Big red couches, D’usse devoted displays, and a great selection of Billboard art covered the walls. Jeff and I enjoyed a private experience alone in the club as The 1975 took the stage. It felt very exclusive.
Thanks to AMCONYC and the Barclays Center, I had these great tickets to see The 1975 — who you might not have heard of — but they have a big, strong, and devoted fan base. I was impressed.

The members of The 1975 are very charismatic — they are built up by their fans and value that very much. With a packed stadium and so many loud cheers, the lead singer addressed the crowd and asked us for 5 minutes of our time, to all realize we’re a community and to put down our phones and really embrace ‘this’ moment of us all being ‘here’ together, as we came together and were a community. He then began to sing a very personal song that with enough knowledge I’d tell you what it was called, but I don’t know. Where’s Shazam when you need it — oh that’s right, no phone rule ツ This moment they had with their fans was truly beautiful.
My first time at Barclays Center felt like a new attraction at Disneyland. The venue is packed with good food and lots of options. From New York classics, like Nathan’s hot dogs, to local Brooklyn mom & pop shops — it’s very clear that this area benefitted from Jay Z’s investment in so many ways!
The entire experience felt very VIP and reminded me a lot of the 40/40 club’s suite area that’s upstairs, private, and in the back. Walking through from one suite to the other — you feel what celebrities must go through when taking back doors to avoid a full crowd. The Barclays Center provides an experience I urge you to try. Ask about their suite services.
