Where Is Your Style From? Indonesian Fashion in the Streets of New York
I feel very connected to my Middle Eastern and Asian roots ♥ my advice is to always be proud of where you come from — it shapes and defines you in so many ways. You’re one-of-a-kind and one of the most unique ways we say who we are without a word is through our style. Fashion can range from tomboy chill to dolled up diva. However you like it, own it!
Lately, I’ve been widely focused on the fashion trends that are both emerging and have made a name for themselves overseas in the Middle East and Asia. I wanted to focus more on the brown-girl-fashion styles and discovered something spectacular.
I love dressing up and the designs of Anniesa Hasibuan get me excited! So when my friend Eski was back in town with another label by Anniesa Hasibuan, I was delighted to meet her in SoHo at their newest pop-up shop the Indonesian Fashion Gallery.
I had my stylish doost Ruthie Darling come along as we tried on a collection of clothes from Indonesian fashion designers Anniesa Hasibuan, Zaskia Sungkar, and Iwan Tirta Private Collection.
Zaskia Sungkar — this Indonesian fashion collection is kind of bad-ass. Her style is edgy with a traditional core. She has a unique eye and I felt transformed into a very stylish ‘cool kid’ in this outfit.

Top & Bottom from Alice & Olivia
Throw over by Anniesa Hasibuan
Oh. My. Gosh. I don’t even know where to begin. Each look is stunning! I am in love with that blue. It really jumps off the page. The pairing of the Alice and Olivia top and bottom with the tasseled throw by Anniesa Hasibuan was spot on! XO, Ellese
