Blue Skies in the Deserts and An Epic Self Journey // Nika Tang AW16 Collection for NYFW
One of my favorite designers I met this year is Nika Tang. She is so unique, raw, and the friend you wish you could dress like! During her AW16 collection, she shared some of her cool and stylish inspirations — and talks favorites!

For her AW16 collection, Nika Tang was inspired by the animated film Rango — voiced by Johnny Depp, Rango is this lizard lost in the dessert, trying to find his own way — the character takes us through his very own spiritual journey.
Also deriving inspiration from Louise Barragán — “a Mexican architect and engineer. His work has influenced contemporary architects through visual and conceptual aspects.” — by the colors of pastels mixed with cream tones that help Nika bring that kind of story line and composition to the collection. She shares how much she loves the art direction of this collection and how it brings to life a color of the story. Amidst all this, NYC plays a big part in the voice of her inspirations:
I love being in New York because it gives us some of our best feedback — gives me a lot of perspective.
Nika — like myself — loves street wear and seeing more colors come into play, varieties of neon. She even inspired this look for today — bold baby blue + black/brown fur. I dare you, splash some neon onto your wardrobe!
