A Pink Story by Thomas Pink for NYFW AW16
UK designer Thomas Pink — this modern british shirtmaker — has delighted us with his new Autumn/Winter 2016 collection for NYFW inspired by the shoreline coasts of the UK with Chinese and Indian linkage.
This week, Pink gave some of us a sneak peek at their AW16 collection showcasing both men and women at the legendary SoHo House in NYC. As a Middle Easterner – I love seeing how the Asian cultures inspire designers like Thomas Pink.
This UK brand has burst into my world in an effortless fashion forward way!
A collage of bold color and texture, inspired by the United Kingdom’s epic coastline.
I spoke with Rachel Branch — the brands VP of Marketing & PR — who walked me through the AW16 collection featuring both men and women attire and that classic touch of detailed and comfortable fabric Pink is already known so well for. I loved seeing the Indian and Chinese inspired patterns and designs. Pink does blazers right and are one of my favorites — they’ve brought such an elegant touch to their women’s line of blazers.
They have brilliant accessories with vibrant colors to go along any attire — I love seeing women in bow-ties too. Especially with the tux look coming back into trend. Rachel showed me the great new details they’ve added to the men’s tux line with themed cufflinks for the man that likes to keep the love of his music or sports on his wrist for those special tux wearing events — grooms I’m looking at you!
I love these stylish patterned ties that have SO much personality but don’t take over your look. I also loved seeing the suede and velvet fabrics come more into use — and more-so hearing the inspiration that curated such an amazing collection!
The collection takes us on a sartorial journey around the UK, visiting some of our best-loved coastal towns. From Brighton’s royal Pavillon in all its regency grandeur, to Padstow and the Isle of Skye with their rugged coastlines – the collection’s color palette of cranberry, navy blue, forest green, mustard and turquoise tells the story of each shoreline location.
