FCUK This Winter! Here’s the French Connection Midsummer Collection

In light of preparing for the big NYFW shows and finding the right outfits, French Connection invited The Doost to a sneak peek of their Midsummer collection, available to the world this April. Woot!

We spoke to the beautiful Joi-Louise Greenwood, who told me about the vision behind the beloved FCUK brand! This season they’re all about the laid-back, easy look, a collection inspired by Calypso — who was a nymph in Greek mythology and lived on the island of Ogygia, where she detained Odysseus for several years. She is generally said to be the daughter of Atlas the Titan. (Thanks Wikipedia!)

I’m a huge fan of the blues and this one is all about mellow time!

This collection is sticking with fringe and tassels because it works! I love how they’ve kept the fringe in the neutral colors — there is this light nude suede jacket with fringes on the sleeve, I wish I got a picture for you … sigh.

Moving away from studs — becoming more minimal because “less is more!” A couple years ago I would have told you to strut your studs, I love big statement pieces but for now keep your big shinny pieces to the side because style is changing into the more minimalist look — excuse me while I add my bohemian touch to this ✿◠‿◠

For their men’s collection, they pulled their inspiration from the movie Drive with Ryan Gosling. Like that hunk in the movie, this collection is very aligned with how Adam Siegel (one of the main producers of the movie) explained:

The kind of character you rarely see anymore – he was a man with a purpose; he was very good at one thing and made no apologies for it.

They really paid attention to the fabric and details — Playing with details and fabrics. Like these rubber buttons, a nice touch!

FUN FACT: The fan favorite FCUK brand is revived with a collection of simple tees — why? — because it’s part of their identity!
