A Rose to Help the Children // Kate Stoltz Gift to You

I admire the direction that the leaders of our generation are evolving towards. A direction where inspiration thrives and more and more people do things out of passion, for a cause, and for the long term effects rather than doing it the quick and easy way just to get it done.

Recently, my good friend and designer Kate Stoltz, from TLC’s Breaking Amish and Return to Amish, became involved with a charity whose sole purpose is to provide high quality surgical care to children and babies with facial deformities living in developing countries around the world. Welcome to the mission of Developing Faces. Throughout the past year, I’ve seen Kate highly involved from traveling to organizing charity events to doing administrational work. In addition, she’s also interwoven her love for design with her love to inspire!

I designed the ‘rose to help the children’ scarf exclusively to help Developing Faces continue their mission. Surgical missions are very expensive, and in order for a charity to continue their work, they need to raise money every year to pay for the surgical supplies and costs. All of the proceeds from the scarf will go directly towards helping to fund the next surgical mission to Guatemala in March 2016.

This soft 10% cashmere, 90% modal women’s scarf was exclusively designed by Kate Stoltz to help support the Developing Faces mission.

This is perfect to give as gifts over the holidays, for birthdays, or just to tell someone that you care. Since all profits from these scarves will go directly to kids who need it, you’ll be getting a double win!

I want the scarf to be a fashionable way for people to give back. As customers and retailers become more aware of the effects that their fashion choices have on the economy and the Earth, my wish is that they will make smarter choices when buying and selling. I think consumers are going to start to want to be able to purchase high quality, desirable products that will help a cause – products that they would buy anyway, but now have the choice of choosing a for-profit or a not-for-profit item that will contribute to a good cause.

I am finding out that not everyone wants to donate to a cause if they don’t get anything in return, and I can understand that. I simply want to give people the option to help others when they make a purchase, and the scarf is my way of beginning that personal mission.

The design was inspired by the beautiful floating rose petals that I saw while visiting a monastery in Antigua, Guatemala. The culture there is so beautiful, natural, and inspired by nature — I knew that I had to incorporate that feeling into the scarf somehow. -Kate Stoltz

So this holiday — give back in more than just one way — join the cause and look good doing it!

MEET THE FOLKS BEHIND DEVELOPING FACES!

Developing_Faces_Group_1-1

My involvement with Developing Faces began about a year ago when I met the former CEO of the charity. I had been wanting to get involved in a charitable cause for a while, but didn’t want to get involved in something that was for profit. I wanted to get involved with a charity that existed because they wanted to help people, not just because it was their job. I have since gotten very involved in the charity and spend my free time planning for missions and fundraising events. My life has become even busier than before, but I love helping and it gives me fulfillment.
