A Carrie Bradshaw sort of day || Manhattan with Alvin Caban Photography
Just about every time I have a girlfriend book her tickets to come visit me in NYC, there’s {pretty, much always} a minor freakout that goes something along the lines of: “OMG, We’re going to be just like Carrie Bradshaw!!” as I just sit there and smile. I’m definitely a combat-boots-and-tshirt, bar-hopping, Brooklyn-brand, friends-with-guys sorta girl and high heels, short dresses and even Manhattan don’t usually fit into my agenda. But this shoot was just a little bit of an exception….
I had worked with Alvin Caban on a previous shoot and we had been trying to coordinate for a couple of months to put together a shoot of our own. He called me up on a Friday afternoon and said, “I know you’re probably busy this weekend, but just in case you’re not… I’m around Sunday if you want to shoot.” Turns out, I was. We spent the next half hour or so discussing details, and by the end of the day, we were able to put together a pretty awesome team for the shoot. Since the shoot was pretty impromptu, we didn’t have any moodboards, but we told our stylist we wanted something preppy with a little bit of edge and left the rest up to her.
We ended up shooting in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan and the result was a Carrie Bradshaw sort of day: Check out some of my favorite behind the scenes photos and then scroll down for the full set:
In the end, we shot four looks. But when we were walking back to the subway as the sun was setting, Alvin stopped me and snapped a couple more photos (which ended up being my favorites) — the pair taken by the vespa that definitely isn’t mine. Here’s the full set:
A big thanks to Alvin Caban Photography
as well as his assistant, Amraj Lalli, my make-up artist Brian Dean, and our wardrobe stylist Saki Inoue
