Princess Style: Noon by Noor at NYFW2014
Kelly Cutrone, TV personality and NY fashion publicist, sits in the control booth wearing her shades directing the show. She counts down 3… 2… 1… and the lights go on. Boom!
The models strut the catwalk with poise and elegance. The touch of sparkle is light but very captivating to the eye. I love the soft colors the designers played with creating the stunning factor!
…nature was referenced as the starting point for the collection. the beautiful colors and unique markings in minerals and crystals inspired the designers to look at patterns found in the natural environment. Cloud formations, crystalline structures and geometric patterns seen in minerals are translated into the brand’s signature prints.
I love their use of patterns especially when it’s done in a bold way only to tie the outfit together. The fabrics are so brilliant they present a whole great color of their own. The velvet purple spoke to me, and she said ‘okay, play with me!’
The color palette is awash with ice blue, cool mint, mauve, navy, burgundy and vanilla with pops of yellow, chartreuse and royal purple. Texture is explored by combining felt and faux fur, chiffon and heavy crepe as well as leather and felt. Neoprene, waffle wool, mohair and a houndstooth jacquard wool also add to the textured effect.
The house is packed! But backstage is where the fun is at. I check out the clothes before they go down the catwalk, talk to the models and observe the team creating the perfection. My highlight of the event is speaking with the fabulous princesses behind Noon by Noor, Noor R Al Khalifa and Haya M Al Khalifa, who are an inspiration and role models for all you Middle Easterners who are pushing the limits of what women can and will do.
The designers play with options and the show presents outfits from the am to pm. I love the transition from the working girl to the elegant champaign sipping feminine rawr!
I need Noon By Noor in my life!!!!!!
